Welcome to the Commerce City Rotary page!
My name is Yolanda Gotier and I'm proud to serve as President of the Commerce City Rotary.
Why Rotary?
As I reflect and set goals for the year, time management always comes up as a priority. Am I utilizing the time or just moving along? Am I making good choices that allow for a balance of work and family or am I just like that duck, looking calm on top but paddling furiously to keep up?
Being a member of any club or organization, takes time, commitment, a willingness to entertain new thoughts and the opportunity to be with those who often mirror our ideas but also challenge our beliefs in a good way. Rotary, for me, is that place. With projects that span both local and international concerns, Rotary is the place, where I can engage in one of the things, I enjoy most, giving back to the community.
I am always amazed by the families we serve through, the Heart and Soul project providing shoes and socks for families identified by the Adams 14 School District. I look forward to the Thank You notes from the students who receive a new dictionary or the toothbrush kits from our dental hygiene project, the looks of appreciation from our Veterans at the yearly Veterans dinner, and the gift of removing the stigma of mental health, through our free Mental Health First Aid training. But the most impactful project for me is our College Scholarship program for Adams 14 high school seniors. It is this project that lets me know we have a bright future in Commerce City. These youth are committed to changing the world while making their families proud, as they create a model for those students who are on their way to greatness. Yes, it takes work on the part of the Rotary Club to fundraise, but with many hands the work is light.
So again, why Rotary, for me the best answer is WHY NOT!
For me, Rotary and the things that the Commerce City club is able to accomplish definitely meets the Four-Way Test, it is The Truth that our community deserves the best. We do our best to be Fair to all concerned while building GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS as we ensure that our work and activities will be BENEFICIAL to all concerned.
Why not join us for lunch? We meet every Wednesday at noon at EL Jardin Mexican Restaurant located in Commerce City.
