 (Story by Sharon Maybee)

Rotarians, begin buffing your car, truck, bike, or tractor plus invite your friends and neighbors to bring their vehicles to the 3rd Annual Commerce City Rotary Club Charity Car Show and Concours d' Elegance.  The show and concours is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Mile High Racing and EntertainmentPark located at 6200 Dahlia Street in Commerce City.  Vehicle placement and on-site registration will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The show is open to spectators from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with trophies and ribbon awards being presented at 1:30 p.m.

Tom Schrah, Charity Car Show Chairman welcomes all vehicles from antique to classic, rods to sports, custom cars and trucks, motorcycles mild and wild, low riders and of course trikes.  Many car clubs are invited with each club being staged together.  The club with the most vehicles in the show will receive recognition along with a Wall Plaque.  All entries are only $10 and each vehicle receives a souvenir window card and dash plaque - these are a collector's items. Vehicles in the Concours d' Elegance will be judged in their respective class with 1st, 2nd & 3rd awards presented.  Overall Peoples Choice awards will also be presented with plaques.  Addition to the show and concours, for a second year we will provide a "Car Corral" for those that want to buy or sell a vehicle.

According to Les Hawley and Carroll Nickle, Sponsorship Co-Chairs, this year's major Platinum Sponsor is Tetra Tech EC, Inc.  The sponsor committee is seeking sponsors and door prizes not only from rotary members but local and auto related businesses. So commit to a sponsorship early so your business can be on the posters. The proceeds of the event will provide safe drinking water and better sanitary conditions for the children of the Christmas Island through the World Community Service (WCS) Project of the Commerce City Rotary.  The past two years this car show has attracted over 120 entries each year and has netted over $10,000 for the "Friends of Christmas Island (WCS) project which supported basic medical, water and education needs.  This WCS project has resulted in taking Rotary to a new club in a new country.
